Class of 2016

Learn to sail!

About The Class

You’ll spend the first morning learning all the fundamentals of sailing. It’s easier than you think, so don’t worry. There will be instructor led classes on everything from the knots you’ll need to rig your sunfish sailboat to learning about the different points of sail. Of course, a big topic will be safety as well.

Your classroom instruction will go from 9:00AM until we break for lunch.

The Sunfish sailboat is a personal size, beach launched sailing dinghy utilizing a planing type hull carrying a lateen sail mounted to an un-stayed mast.

Having a lateen sail with its simple two line rigging makes a Sunfish simple to learn sailing on and to set up. Upgrades can be added to enhance sail control for competitive sailing, making the boat attractive to both novice and experienced sailors alike.

You’ll practice what you learned in the classroom with an instructor onboard for the first afternoon. On day two, you’ll practice sailing your sunfish solo.

On day two, after another morning of sailing on the Sunfish, you will be offered the chance to sail on some of the instructors keelboats. You’ll get a taste for what it’s like to sail on a much larger sailing boat.
